Seeing the big picture
At the beginning of every sustainable business is the will to enter into a relationship – with customers, suppliers, employees, employers, shareholders and other co-operation partners. Building and maintaining long-term, trusting business relationships is the basis of our work. Beyond the solutions we develop for specific financing and business development issues, it is our aim to be useful to our customers as a critical, authentic and thoughtful partner in all strategic and operational matters.
We provide personal, discreet and highly committed advice exclusively in the interests of our clients – even in unusual or complex situations. We think entrepreneurially and long-term, creatively and holistically. We use our complementary expertise and our broad background of experience in corporate management, reorganisation management, private equity and M&A to promote your long-term success.

Flexibility
Netzwork
Concept synthesis
Based on more than 30 years of working on many different tasks, we have a broad and resilient network of suitable industry contacts, financing providers and other service providers worldwide.
By combining an inventory and definition of requirements with our wealth of experience, we not only achieve a high degree of flexibility for customised solutions, but often also develop a combination of previously divergent conceptual ideas from different parties.

Fast recording
Our working style is proactive and proactive rather than reactive and process-bound.
We strive to quickly gain a deep understanding of a client’s value creation processes and occasionally question established structures, positions and premises.

Dr. Walter Berger:
After graduating from high school and studying (Dipl.-Kfm.) in Göttingen and Columbia, S.C. USA (MIBS) on a Fulbright scholarship, he worked until 1990 as a research assistant at the University of Constance in a special research centre of the German Research Foundation (doctorate on financial innovations in international credit trading – awarded the Dornier Research Prize).
From 1991, Dr Berger worked at Euro Synergies S.A. in Paris, one of the first private equity companies operating throughout Europe. In mid-1992, he took the opportunity to work with Plaschna Management KG, the first reorganisation holding company financed by the Treuhandanstalt for the new German states. Here he was involved in a number of successful restructurings and privatisations, including that of the semiconductor materials manufacturers in Freiberg/Saxony, from which significant companies have since emerged (including Solarworld and Wacker Siltronic). After four years, he moved to the management of one of the privatised companies – Freiberger Compound Materials (FCM), today the world market leader for compound semiconductor materials.
After a short initial period as an independent consultant, he became Managing Director of HgCapital, a pan-European private equity company, in 2000, where he was jointly responsible for building up the German business. Since April 2003, Dr Berger has been working as a consultant for investors and companies in the areas of restructuring financing, business development and transaction development, including 5 years as a founding partner of Berger, Liechtenstein & Cie. GmbH & Co. KG.
“You can build something beautiful from the stones that are placed in your path.”
